Course introduction:
Join us as Dr. Guy Lightfoot discusses best practice techniques for infant ABR. This talk will review the methods appropriate for ABR threshold estimation in newborns, with particular reference to defined waveform interpretation criteria and clinical efficiency. Too often such tests are performed without evidence-based considerations, often with inconsistent or undefined methods. Potential errors and their avoidance will be discussed, and the advantages of independent peer review highlighted. This talk may challenge your existing practice so be open-minded!
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
1.describe the process of ABR threshold estimation and compare the merits and disadvantages of common methods
2.list the reasons why waveform interpretation criteria should be defined and evidence-based
3.discuss the need for clinicians to follow clinical guidelines and identify the risks in not doing so
4.list the advantages of independent peer review
