Course introduction:
The use of probe-microphone measures to verify prescriptive fitting targets has been a part of Audiology Best Practice for decades. Unfortunately, a large percent of patients still do not receive this critical testing when they purchase hearing aids. This seminar reviews the negative consequences that commonly occur when probe-mic verification is not conducted, with guidance how to implement this testing into your practice.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
• Describe the limitations of manufacturer’s proprietary fittings
• Describe the limitations of relying on software simulations of real-ear output
• Describe the how real-ear verification can impact patient satisfaction
