Course introduction:
Audiologic rehabilitation (AR) is defined as a set of professional activities performed in conjunction with a hard-of-hearing person to improve communication and minimize subsequent difficulties. This module will comprehensively discuss audiologic/aural rehabilitation in children with hearing loss.
Learning Objectives:
After this seminar, the participants will be able to:
- Outline the rehabilitative management of children who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Discuss the importance of pairing early intervention with early identification of hearing loss
- Summarize the importance of the family in a comprehensive audiologic rehabilitation plan
- Recognize the importance of the appropriate management of HAs, CIs, and FM systems
- Give examples of the appropriate strategies for working with children with hearing loss

Souhad is an audiologist based in Lebanon who specializes in assessing and managing hearing loss in pediatrics. She graduated in 2019 with a BS in medical audiology and a minor in public health from the American University of Beirut. Soon after graduation, she became a medical audiologist at Saint Joseph Hospital Lebanon. She is a senior pediatric audiologist at Beeco Hearing Center, affiliated with WIDEX Global.
