Course introduction:
The latest research data and clinical practice guidelines is discussed in this presentation giving audiologists the opportunity to transfer all skills gained in the assessment and management of hearing loss onto the treatment of patients with tinnitus. This session is intended for audiologists interested in adding tinnitus services to their clinic’s portfolio.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
• Describe tinnitus in terms of definition, classification systems, prevalence, etiology, neural mechanisms and clinical manifestations;
• Explain evidence-based assessment and management strategies;
• Discuss effective counselling strategies with this population.

    Dr. Dany Pineault is a passionate audiologist with over 20 years of extensive clinical experience, in both private and non-profit organizations, specializing in the management of problematic tinnitus and hyperacusis. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at A.T. Still University at the Post-Professional Doctor of Audiology program. He teaches the theoretical and clinical foundations of tinnitus and hyperacusis evaluation and management course. He also serves as a research advisor for Statistics Canada and has co-authored three Health Reports on hearing health problems. Finally, he is a leading content expert and has published articles on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on hearing problems and evidence-based assessment and management strategies for the tinnitus and hyperacusis patient with the Hearing Journal and the Phonak Audiology Blog.
