Course introduction
This course will introduce participants to the exciting field of auditory processing disorders (APD). Part 1 of the course will review the history of APD, current APD position statements and guidelines from around the world, and how APD presents in relation to other disorders affecting communication. Part 2 of the course will review current approaches to assessing, diagnosing and managing APD.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:

PhD
Dr Wayne Wilson PhD is an Associate Professor and the Head of Audiology at The University of Queensland, Australia. Wayne has worked in the fields of auditory processing (AP) and auditory processing disorders (APD) since the early 1990s with a majority of his 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 10 book chapters, 3 patents, and almost 300 conference presentations being completed in these fields. Wayne’s work has been cited in APD white papers and national guidelines in the USA, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Netherlands and Germany; and he continues to serve on multiple APD working groups around the world and lead a large APD Clinic at The University of Queensland that provides APD services to hundreds of children annually. In 2018, Wayne was awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Service by Audiology Australia for research, teaching and service in the fields of AP and APD.
