Course introduction:
This new AABR Hearing Screening program reference toolkit offers guidance to physicians and staff utilizing AABR Hearing Screening in a hospital-based Newborn Hearing Screening program. The information provided in this presentation will cover the toolkit resources based on clinical and peer recommendations from all medical fields pertaining to Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS). Our goal at Natus is to provide a basic outline of UNHS program management supporting facilities with successful integration and use of AABR Hearing Screening technology.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:
• Describe Universal Newborn Hearing Screening policies and procedures including a General Clinical and Screening Guidance for the initial screen
• List at least 3 JCIH Policy Statements on UNHS
• Discuss the Importance of a UNHS TEAM
• Demonstrate correct procedures for preparation of infant, conducting the hearing screen and troubleshooting.
• Describe importance of communication of hearing screening results with parents.
• List quality improvement planning steps in a UNHS program

    Dr. Mary Ormson

    Dr. Mary Ormson is a clinical audiologist with many years of experience in nearly all aspects of audiology, including vestibular assessment and management, electrophysiology and universal newborn hearing screening. Dr. Ormson’s current role at Natus Medical Incorporated focuses on delivery and management of content for the Hearing & Balance Academy. Additionally, Dr. Ormson collaborates with her Natus colleagues to create educational offerings supporting our global customers.
