Course introduction:
Frequency lowering techniques are available in many hearing aids today.
But how do they work? Which patients would benefit and how much is too much?
This session aims to equip clinicians with the knowledge to fit frequency lowering techniques with confidence.
We will learn how to use the Aurical PMM and Aurical HIT to visualize and verify the various techniques of 6 hearing aid brands.
We will also discuss the evidence surrounding frequency lowering and its role in hearing aid fittings.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this seminar the participants will be able to:

  • describe the theoretical differences between compression, transposition and envelope manipulation.
  • explain the current clinical guidance of verification using S & Sh phoneme audibility.
  • discuss some of the most recent evidence relating to the benefits, goals and limitations of frequency lowering techniques.
