Course introduction:
Verification of hearing aid gain and output is a critical aspect of the hearing aid fitting process. Join our experts as they discuss key elements and recent advances of these real- ear measures. Additionally, they present their views on the use of verification to successfully manage challenging cases to optimize outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to pose questions to the speakers after each presentation and during a panel discussion at the conclusion of the meeting

Dr. H. Gustav Mueller holds faculty positions with Vanderbilt University, the University of Northern Colorado and Rush University. He is a consultant for WSAudiology and Contributing Editor for AudiologyOnline, where he has the monthly column “20Q With Gus.” Dr. Mueller is a Founder of the American Academy of Audiology and a Fellow of the American Speech and Hearing Association. He has co-authored over ten books on hearing aids and hearing aid fitting, including the recent three-volume Modern Hearing Aids series, and the clinical text on Speech Mapping and Probe Microphone Measures. Gus is the co-founder of the popular website www.earTunes.com, and resides on a tropic North Dakota island, just outside the city of Bismarck.

Dr. Lindsey Jorgensen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Dakota. At USD, she is graduate level faculty, is a graduate clinical educator, and serves on various university committees. In these capacities she teaches graduate level amplification and aural rehabilitation courses and supervises students in direct audiologic patient care in the clinic. Dr. Jorgensen mentors AuD students and conducts research in the areas of hearing aids, hearing assistive technology along with the interaction between hearing device use and cognitive ability. Lindsey is also on the Board of Directors for the Academy with a 2019-2022 term.

Dr. Scollie is a Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Director of the National Centre for Audiology at Western University, in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Dr. Scollie’s research focuses on development of fitting and verification algorithms and procedures for high technology hearing aids, evaluation of outcomes, and knowledge translation of evidence to clinical practice, hearing aid prescription, and early hearing detection and intervention.
